The Peelhouses Data Centre by Lockerbie Data Centres Limited will be located in Scotland half a mile (750 metres) north of the Dumfries & Galloway town of Lockerbie.
Lockerbie lies in the south of Scotland, 20 miles north of the English border and 75 miles south of Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland’s two major cities. The town has a population of 4000 and is extremely well connected to the rest of the UK via a direct link to the adjacent motorway system (M74) and has a West Coast Main Line railway station in the middle of the town providing a direct connection to Glasgow, Carlisle and London.

Where Lockerbie is in relation to the rest of the United Kingdom
The top two maps (click to enlarge) to the right show the location of Lockerbie in relation to the rest of the United Kingdom and in the context of the Southwest of Scotland. It can be seen that Lockerbie lies very close to the geographical centre of the UK, and within easy reach of the major cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Carlisle and Newcastle, all of which have good motorway links, main line railway stations and airports, of which Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle are all international terminals.
Glasgow is an hour away by car or rail. Edinburgh is an hour an a half away by car, or an hour by rail. Carlisle is twenty minutes away by car and less by rail. Newcastle to the East is two hours away by car. London is approximately 325 miles to the south and can be reached from Lockerbie Station, which is on the main London to Glasgow railway line, in three and three-quarter hours.
Lockerbie in the Immediate Context
Th third map shows Lockerbie in its immediate context (click to enlarge). The area is predominately rural / agricultural and livestock farming is the main industry, with Lockerbie still acting in its historical role as a sheep and cattle market town. Lockerbie belongs to the county of Dumfries and Galloway and occupies a position towards the northern extend of the Annandale and Eskdale district in the North Annandale ward. The county town of Dumfries lies 14 miles to the west along the A709 road.
The Peelhouses site can be identified to the NNE of Lockerbie, generally occupying the area to the north and east of Lockerbiehouse Wood, with the data centre being located in the areas noted as Peelhouses Hill and Peelhouses Moor.
